    Austin Industrial, Inc. is a leading General Contractor that provides construction, maintenance, turnaround, specialty, and plant services within the oil, gas, chemical, power, and manufacturing industries.

    We are currently looking for knowledgeable college students to join our team as a Construction and Maintenance Intern


    This position is based in our La Porte, TX corporate office.


    We are seeking interns in our Construction and Maintenance areas. The intern will work on a specific project, while learning Austin Industrial operations and processes.


    Projects and duties for learning:

    • Assignments vary based on department requirement
    • Real world experience working with operations in your field of expertise – construction management, maintenance management, project controls, estimating, operations, field office management, safety, technology, contract management or procurement
    • Ability to get out in the field and experience the operations side of construction management
    • Perform analytical reviews recommending creative ideas that enhance the overall business function
    • Utilize technology to bring innovation into a construction and maintenance work area
    • Assist in daily activities learning different aspects of a business environment
    • Participate in a project that combines book knowledge with real world experience leading to a complete product or process
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management


    Education and Experience:

    • Must be Junior or Senior college student working toward a degree in Construction Management or similar field
    • Must possess a 3.0 GPA or higher & be able to work up to 40 hours per week
    • Intern job assignment is 12 weeks in the summer (mid-May through mid-August)
    • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Must have the ability to think analytically, present ideas professionally, and work in project teams
    • In order to enter construction and maintenance job sites, must have the ability to obtain a TWIC card.

    Physical Demands:  The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Business Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    • Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
    • Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
    • Ability to lift and carry at least 20 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and loud or continuous noise.
    • Ability to climb ladders as needed on a job site.
    • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions.
