Austin Industrial, Inc. is a leading General Contractor that provides construction, maintenance, turnaround and plant services within the oil, gas, chemical, power, and manufacturing industries.  We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist (corporate office and project site support). This position is responsible for ensuring the requested products and services are available when requested while maintaining a competitive cost structure and integrity in the procurement process.

Position activities include:

  • The procurement of construction materials of all nature and matter as they may apply to an industrial construction project scope.
  • The procurement of subcontractor services of all nature and matter as they may apply to an industrial construction project scope.

This is a highly visible position within Austin Industrial, and will require great attention to detail and the ability to work on many project demands simultaneously.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating the purchase of goods and services for multiple industrial construction and maintenance project sites.
  • Source new and existing products, interview suppliers, acquire quotes and product information.
  • Negotiate supply source transactions of low to moderate complexity.
  • Maintain an approved vendor master data base in the business system to ensure all vendors are setup accurately.
  • Ensure requisitions received from sites and internal corporate functions, purchase orders, change order modifications and material returns are documented in a timely manner.
  • Develop relationships with internal customers and suppliers; resolve issues associated with outstanding orders.
  • Coordinate and expedite material as needed to meet project and/or site work schedules.
  • Set clear expectations for all suppliers and ensure suppliers meet and/or exceed expectations.
  • Engage suppliers in performance improvement initiatives to address deficiencies related to quantity, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Comply with corporate procurement and subcontractor guidelines.
  • Perform purchasing and subcontractor duties in a systematic manner and advocate standardization of requirements to reduce cost of materials and monitor market trends.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or currently in the pursuit of a degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics or related field preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Possess working knowledge of procurement, subcontractor documentation requirements and source supply concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills when interacting verbally and online with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic financial analysis skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, fluency in Excel required.
  • Experience with Viewpoint Software helpful.
