Overview

Austin Industries has an outstanding opportunity for a qualified Sr. Payroll Administrator in Dallas, TX.  The Sr. Payroll Administrator will perform a variety of activities associated with the administration, processing, reporting, and delivery of payroll services to one or more operating companies.  Primary responsibility will be the timely and accurate processing of weekly multi-state, in-house payroll(s) while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain employee/payroll records: New Hire entry, changes in pay and tax status, direct deposit, etc.
  • Processing of garnishments and wage levies
  • Process voluntary and involuntary terminations
  • Issue expense reimbursements for taxable items
  • Gross-up calculations
  • Entry/audit of timekeeping records
  • Compute wage and overtime payments in accordance with: FLSA, State labor laws, Davis-Bacon Act (prevailing wage)
  • Maintenance of Workers’ Comp rates by class code
  • Balancing of earnings and deduction totals
  • Inspection of pay registers and standard reports to verify/correct any out-of-balance conditions
  • Certified payroll reporting
  • Issue reports/payments to internal and external third parties: AP, Job Cost, Accounting, tax agencies, garnishing agents, etc.
  • Provide payroll support to jobsite personnel
  • Respond timely to customer requests

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field of study strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 10-key by touch
  • Strong Excel (Pivot Table, vLookup, etc.)
  • Proficient with Outlook
  • 5+ years in-house payroll processing experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), active
  • Preferred:
    • Spanish fluency
    • Oracle-based Accounting/Payroll/Reporting systems proficiency
