Overview

Austin Industrial, Inc. is a leading General Contractor who provides construction, maintenance, turnaround and plant services within the oil, gas, chemical, power and manufacturing industries. We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager in Borger, TX.

Responsibilities

Operations:

  • Review “Look Ahead” schedule and manages with superintendent and general foreman.
  • Resolves conflicts which require management direction
  • Monitors and advises upon any schedule changes
  • Approves any additions to Austin’s scope of work
  • Monitor material needs for the project
  • Monitors daily progress

  • Ensure that discipline production goals are met

  • Monitor crew mix, crew mix rates to ensure within budget/estimate

  • Understand the budget estimate and explain to subordinates

  • Assist as required in preparation and review of project estimates with the intent of reducing project cost

  • Identify and implement cost saving program/methods to reduce project cost

  • Manage staff to craft ratios to assure unit work hour cost, safety, quality and labor relation goals are achieved

  • Assure implementation of quality program is in accordance with project requirements

  • Promote continuous performance improvement in all areas

  • Promote initiatives and process improvement activities

Reporting/Coordination:

  • Monitors daily progress reports Project Leads and craft supervision.
  • Conduct daily project update meeting with Craft General Foreman
  • Participates and coordinates shift turnover meeting if applicable
  • Coordinates between Austin project staffing and Customers Coordinator
  • Track and report all project KPI’s including safety, quality, absentee, turnover, productivity, schedule compliance, cost and profitability
  • Monitors and reacts to budget and/or schedule implications
  • Reviews and approves manpower changes
  • Ensures that disciplinary action such as quality, attendance, safety, etc. process is followed
  • Ensures that required craft tools are available
  • Perform frequent/daily walks with Craft Superintendents to review safety, quality and accuracy of planned work being performed
  • Monitor permanent and temporary construction materials are sufficient to support the work
  • Assist in monitoring project start/stop times

Quality: 

  • Monitor QA/QC activities for conformity to Austin’s QA/QC processes
  • Take immediate action to resolve any and all quality related issues
  • Assure post-project performance evaluation and documents are finalized
  • Ensure that all work in field is meeting plans, specifications, codes and quality requirements

Safety:

  • Understand, comply with and lead the Austin/Customer safety policies and procedures
  • Utilize and participate in Austin’s Accident Prevention Program including audits
  • Embrace the “stop work authority/responsibility” philosophy
  • Actively participate in daily Austin safety meetings
  • Monitors safety performance and implements action to resolve any issues concerning safety.
  • Audit Austin safety meetings/training for quality and content

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or related degree preferred
  • 10+ years field supervision experience as Craft Supervisor
  • 5+ years’ experience working on mid to large sized construction projects in a refinery setting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to manage required documentation and/or communication for daily work flow processes, monthly and quarterly reporting
