Austin Commercial is currently seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager in our Los Angeles, California office. Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to lead Austin Commercial’s preconstruction effort on a project including conceptual estimating, detailed estimating, scheduling, constructability analysis, value management, BIM, subcontractor/supplier involvement, procurement, and transition to the construction team.  The position requires active collaboration with owners, architects, engineers, consultants and suppliers to deliver a successful project.

 

The Sr. Preconstruction Manager will a take an active role in regional industry organizations, develop and maintain subcontractor relationships, be knowledgeable regarding regional/national commodity markets and assist in the pursuit and development of new project opportunities.

 

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Collaboration with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and suppliers
  • Develops and maintains subcontractor relationships
  • Support Business Development in the maintenance of customer relationships and in support of specific project pursuits
  • Offer technical expertise and advice during the entire timeline from lead, to prospect, to pursuit
  • Actively participates in design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for proposed new construction projects involving both competitive bid and negotiated type work
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years’ experience in commercial construction
  • Experience on multiple projects that are in excess of $200M
  • High level conceptual estimating ability
  • Expertise with estimating database software’s such as MC2, Timberline, etc.
  • Experience in working in different geographical markets around the country
  • Experience with large, commercial construction projects of at least $250M
  • Knowledge of both open shop and union labor rates around the country
  • The ability to manage a design to a budget
  • The ability to multitask and meet simultaneous deliverables
  • The ability to manage and direct people in the same and different locations around the country
  • The ability to communicate with architects, owners, and engineers at a high level
  • Very well developed people and communication skills
  • Expertise in procurement of construction work
  • Expert knowledge of field operations
