Austin Commercial is currently seeking a Contracts Manager to be located at our corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX. Duties

The Contracts Manager role is responsible for administering the risk management of all contractual relationships for Austin Commercial.  Oversee the development and implementation of risk management plans for construction projects and manage all contractual relationships of the company. Work closely with operational team members to ensure understanding of key risks of projects during the proposal, estimating, negotiation, and construction phases of the project life cycle. This person will discharge the listed responsibilities under the supervision of the Director of Risk Management.

Responsibilities

  • Qualification, proposal and contract reviews prior to bid submission
  • Identify and develop mitigation for contractual and operational risk in contract documents
  • Provide risk awareness to operational team during project site visits
  • Allocate risk through owner contract negotiations
  • Transfer risk during subcontract/supplier contract negotiations
  • Assist project teams with appropriate documentation and correspondence during disputes/claims
  • Coordinate insurance and bonds through corporate risk management for ongoing projects
  • Manage, administer, and negotiate master subcontract/purchase order agreements
  • Compliance with corporate contract review policy
  • Review projects for compliance with company's operating policy and contract terms
  • Train project teams about transferring risk through contractual terms
  • Develop and teach training classes regarding contractual terms and conditions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a law degree preferred
  • 5-10 years’ experience as Risk Manager and/or Contract Manager for a large construction company
  • Proven history of contract negotiations and understanding of construction operations/legal issues
  • Attention to detail, process driven personality with a strong customer service oriented approach
  • Occasional travel is required.
